About the Award

The NSNC Education Foundation is a tax-exempt non-profit foundation [501(c)3] devoted to the education and training of new and experienced columnists everywhere. The foundation was incorporated in 2003 in the state of Texas.

The core mission of the Education Foundation is to foster training opportunities for columnists and others interested in column writing. The foundation works with the National Society of Newspaper Columnists and others to serve as a training tool for both aspiring and published columnists in all media. The foundation’s special emphasis has been on helping assist college columnists.

Eligibility Requirements

Undergraduates (including seniors) who write bylined, general-interest or editorial-page columns that appear in the print or online editions of college newspapers. Specialized columnists, such as movie reviewers and sports commentators, are not eligible. Columns carrying dual bylines are eligible, but only one prize will be awarded.

Entry Fee Details

Required Material

Send clippings of three columns published between March 1, 2013, and Feb. 28,
2014, in your college newspaper. (A college newspaper is one whose main circulation is on a
college campus.) Paste the clippings to 8 ½- by 11-inch sheets of paper. Photocopies of
columns are acceptable. If the column was published online only, send a printout.

Entry Format

• Please print out entry form.
• Fill it out completely.
• Attach three clippings.
