The Rockford IceHogs, members of the American Hockey League and top affiliate of the 2015 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, are looking for candidates to fill their open Communications Internship position for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
This Non-paid internship begins in September and will run through the end of the season (plus postseason).


• KNowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and Outlook • Experience with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator is preferred but Not required • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills • Must have reliable transportation and be able to attend some off-site events • Basic kNowledge of hockey • Must have a keen sense of confidentiality ** Financial compensation is Not available ** ** We do Not provide transportation, but can provide housing ** Note: When you apply for this job online, you will be required to answer the following questions: 1. • Assist the Communications Manager in day-to-day operations of the communications department • Write press releases including game day previews, game recaps and the weekly release • Contribute feature stories for, and • Create and edit game Notes for each game • Assist in the updating and maintenance of the team’s official website ( • Coordinate player interviews with the local, regional and national media with players and coaches • Create graphics for promoting upcoming games and events • Help organize team press conferences • Update and maintain IceHogs social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat) • Update team stats and records • Coordinate and assist in community relations including appearances, donation requests and team autograph sessions • Set up, tear down of press box on game nights • Serve as point-of-contact in press box on game nights for media, visiting scouts and other visiting hockey personnel • Issue media credentials on game nights
