Description

he Community Features Editor / Internship Coordinator works with the News Director, Station Manager, and Citizens Advisory Board to develop ideas and strategies to obtain relevant features material and news stories for broadcast and Internet distribution. The Community Features Editor / Internship Coordinator researches, creates, and provides features and news materials for use by WXPR and White Pine Community Broadcasting, Inc. The Community Features Editor and Internship Coordinator is expected to exhibit creativity and exercise discretion and independent judgement in the performance of this job. This position also assists in the development of and provides supervision of WXPR’s Broadcast Intern program, including training, scheduling, assignment, and monitoring of work output and quality of seasonal interns.

Requirements

Educational Requirements: Bachelors or higher degree with major study in the field of Communications, Journalism, or related field, or equivalent work experience. Minimum Requirements: Minimum one year journalism experience, preferably in public broadcasting. Strong editing, writing, and on-air skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work and communicate effectively with management, staff, volunteers, and the greater community served by WXPR. Ability to perform well under pressure while maintaining composure and authority. Proficiency using audio editing systems, field and studio equipment, on line techNologies, and automation software and systems. Excellent audio production skills. Ability and desire to provide on-air program broadcast services on a regular basis.
