WETA Public Television and Classical 90.9 FM provides internship opportunities designed to help expand students' kNowledge and experience in public media and compliment their studies.


Preferred major in Film or Journalism related fields. Interest in the local community and the art of story telling. At least 1 year of experience shooting and editing video. Excellent writing and research skills and careful attention to detail required. A positive attitude and availability on occasional nights and weekends is needed. Experience with Final Cut Pro preferred. To be eligible, interns must be currently enrolled in a college or university or have graduated within 12 months from the beginning of the internship. Interns may receive academic credit for their internship if approved and arranged by their educational institution.


Local web video interns work within WETA’s Digital Media team to plan, shoot and edit short (3-5 minute) documentary style web videos about interesting local personalities and subjects. Interns will assist with brainstorming topics, identifying interview subjects, setting up video shoots, shooting interviews/b-roll with DSLR cameras, and editing footage. Interns may be required to make trips to various local destinations.
