The Editorial Intern for Press Releases will be responsible for assisting writers with member PRs, which highlight their professional accomplishments. Intern will gather information about members via telephone interviews and emailing questionnaires, as well as through online research, and share the information with writers so they have ample material to create a professional press release. Intern will also assist writing press releases, as needed.

Once releases are complete and sent to members for their approval, Intern will be responsible for maintaining accurate log of when releases are due back from members for printing. Candidate will create weekly listing of finalized releases to be printed, help proofread releases for adherence to NAPW style guide and grammar, review press release photos for quality and create mailing labels, if needed.

A second aspect of press releases is their distribution on Vocus. Intern will be responsible for weekly or bi-weekly uploading of completed releases to Vocus, as well as managing any follow-up with member regarding Vocus, such as downloading and emailing distribution reports.


1+ years public relations, writing and editing experience Excellent written skills, with strict attention to spelling, punctuation and grammar Meticulous approach to detail Comfort working with proprietary software as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Familiar with Vocus / PRWeb or comparable system CRM experience a plus Comfort with writing on behalf of member(s) while adhering to the NAPW style guide Must be extremely organized, self- motivated and enjoy working in a team environment Ability to meet tight deadlines Working towards Undergraduate degree or Masters in Public Relations, English, Journalism, Communications or related field or related work experience Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume and link to a writing portfolio or two writing samples.
