Passion for writing, communications and a knack for promoting great stories sought for global automotive financial services company based out of Farmington Hills, Mich. The Public Relations Intern assists in the execution of the company’s public relations strategy as well as with key day-to-day media relations tasks.
Requirements
Students applying for this internship should have following qualifications and skills:
•Junior, senior or graduate student majoring Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related fields.
•A knack for researching topics, journalist beats and (new) media outlets
•Exceptional writing skills
•Time management and planning
•Ability to develop creative solutions
•Ability to work effectively with a team, as well as independently
•Positive professional attitude
•Attention to detail
•Multimedia, social media and video experience
Responsibilities
Write press materials, including: press releases, fact sheets, bios, Q & A’s and other media collateral pieces;
•Contribute written or video pieces for the company’s media blog;
•Create and manage the distribution of daily media clips to company leaders;
•Work collaboratively with Internal Communications to manage editorial content and calendar across internal and external communication vehicles;
•Build productive relationships with internal customers and external audiences (bloggers, community partners, etc.);
•Build and update media lists targeted at various news beats in the U.S. and Canada;
•Contribute to creative brainstorming for key communications projects;
•Provide department project support as needed.
