The Grand Rapids Griffins, primary affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, anNounce an opening for a Public Relations Intern for Road Games. The internship starts in October 2015 and lasts until the conclusion of the 2015-16 regular season (April 2016).
This internship is intended to help prepare the individual for employment with a professional sports team. Previous members of the Griffins public relations department have continued on to work for the Baltimore Ravens (NFL), Berlin Thunder (NFL Europe), Carolina Cobras (AFL), Cleveland Browns (NFL), Denver Broncos (NFL), Denver Outlaws (MLL), Detroit Lions (NFL), Detroit Red Wings (NHL), Detroit Vipers (IHL), Florida Panthers (NHL), Grand Rapids Rampage (AFL), Indianapolis Indians (IL), Lake Erie Monsters (AHL), New York Jets (NFL), New York Rangers (NHL), San Antonio Rampage (AHL), University of Florida (SEC), USA Cycling and USA Hockey.

• Recent graduate, senior/junior-year undergraduate student or post-graduate student, majoring in communications, sport management, journalism, public relations or related field • Availability to work 38 road game nights from residence, primarily on nights and including weekends • Possesses own computer with high-speed internet access • Astute kNowledge of and interest in hockey • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Intense desire to progress professionally within the sports PR industry • Creativity, exacting attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage a variety of simultaneous tasks and meet deadlines • Computer proficiency, including Photoshop and web site management • Self-starting, highly motivated individual with exceptional work ethic and unquestioned dependability • Personal, professional demeaNor


• Oversee and handle in-game and post-game media relations responsibilities for all 38 regular season road games from residence • Write and email a game story to all media outlets • Engage fans and provide in-game updates on Twitter • Post scoring updates to the Griffins' App • Call local TV stations with game score/information • Create/edit multimedia content, post game story on and update social media sites
