Description
This fall internship, beginning in September 2015, is a paid opportunity for undergraduate students in their junior year or senior year, recent college graduates or graduate students with an interest in Southeast Asia.
This internship pays an hourly rate of $10.50, and ideally applicants will work part-time during regular business hours (dependent on the applicant’s school schedule), with some flexibility around an academic course schedule. The internship is based in Washington, DC and will last approximately 10 weeks.
Requirements
Graduate or undergraduate student (who has completed their sophomore year) working towards a degree in a relevant field (i.e. international relations, Asian studies, political science). Recent college graduates are also eligible to apply.
Qualified applicants will have demonstrated kNowledge and experience in East Asia, international relations, and U.S. foreign policy; particular interest in Southeast Asia is preferred. Fluent or native-level English language ability is also preferred. Experience working in an office setting is desired, along with strong attention to detail and a sense of initiative, and a strong desire to learn and to contribute as a valued team member.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include program and administrative assistance to CEAP, which facilitates research and publications, and conducts a series of events relating to a variety of issues in East Asia. Principal duties and responsibilities may include research and administrative support for Senior Fellow and Southeast Asia Chair, proofreading and editing research papers, maintaining contact databases, monitoring current developments in East Asia, and assisting with the organization of seminars, meetings and other events in Washington.
In addition to their primary responsibilities, interns will have the opportunity to attend internal meetings, hearings on Capitol Hill, local think tank events, professional development workshops, and public Brookings events as well as participate on Brookings sports teams and network with other interns throughout the Institution.
