Part time, Editorial / Writing, Editing , Editorial Department Ten Speed Press, an imprint of the Crown Publishing Group and a division of Penguin Random House, is seeking an editorial intern to work in our Emeryville, California, office for 20 hours per week. Interns will gain valuable experience in the Nonfiction lifestyle publishing industry and be involved in a variety of projects surrounding book acquisition, editorial project management, and publication Penguin Random House is the leading adult and children's publishing house in North America, the United Kingdom and many other regions around the world. Qualified candidates must have outstanding organizational and communication abilities, experience working effectively in teams, and the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently. An interest in illustrated book publishing and an affinity for cooking, art/design, gift, humor, and prescriptive Nonfiction books is requested; prior internship/office experience is a plus.


Responsibilities include, but are Not limited to: • Quality-control reviews of electronic books • Checking page proofs, inserting cross-references, and creating art logs • Reviewing unsolicited manuscripts and writing reader’s reports • Researching competitive titles, author platforms, and social media engagement • Coding manuscripts for design and sample pages, and Library of Congress and sales submissions • Maintenance of permanent and foreign libraries, administrative duties • Attending company, department, and author meetings
